The six steps involved in getting dental implants

1. The consultation. The first step is to sit down with Dr. Atassi for a consultation appointment at our office. This is your chance to chat about your goals and concerns and for the doctor to evaluate your oral health. You’ll likely get a 3D scan of your mouth so the team can plan your treatment with precision. Dr. Atassi discusses whether dental implants are right for you and creates a custom plan to fit your unique needs.

2. Preparing for the surgery. Once your plan is in place, there may be some prep work. If you have any specific dental issues, like gum disease or tooth extractions, these will be addressed first. It is all about ensuring your mouth is in excellent shape to support the implants and ensure success. Our expert team will take you through every step, keeping everything clear and comfortable!

3. Surgical placement of the dental implant. The big day has arrived! This is when the dental implant (a small titanium screw) is placed into your jawbone. This procedure is done with local anesthesia, so you’ll stay comfy and calm. Titanium is biocompatible, which means your body loves it and will bond naturally to your bone over several months.

4. Healing and osseointegration. Here’s where the magic happens. Over the following weeks or months, the implant fuses with your jawbone in a process known as osseointegration. This creates a super-strong foundation for your new tooth. While you heal, you will get a temporary crown to keep your smile looking great.

5. Final restoration. After the healing period, it’s time for the grand finale! A custom-made crown (or bridge/denture if multiple teeth were replaced) is attached to the top of the implant.
